Heroes That Could Have Been - Battlefront

With a galaxy to choose from, DICE opts for obscure characters.

Battlefront has come out with DLC. Oh man was I excited for it to. I am an avid lover of the game, but I still have to ask this really important question.

What is with these heroes?

No seriously I’m not even mad that it’s not Lando or Chewbacca because I am going to assume your going to put them in something bigger. You did such good work on character design and really making everything look like it did in the movies that there is no way you are not going to use Lando or Chewbacca. I know you probably have spent some time scanning Billy D Ray’s actual smile for Lando and have measured every hair on Chewbacca. So let’s just assume maybe your just running out of people to put in those positions. So today I am going to help you out.

Let’s start with Greedo since he is the easy one. You need an underworld type who is clearly a bad guy. You need someone who uses guns since you don’t have enough light saber wielders to keep the game somewhat balance. Let’s just ignore the TIE fighter problem in the game and assume balance was a major part of their choices. So you need someone who uses a gun. DICE you could have used another bounty hunter. Which one you ask?

Let’s go from left to right in that main image above. You’ve got Dengar, IG-88, Bossk, 4-LOM, and Zuckuss. You could have used any of them. Most are minor bounty hunters that we know very little of and would have been good picks for the job of a new hero. You know what though, let’s drop it because at least we know Greedo’s name in the movies. Let’s move on to you next choice and what it could have been.

Battlefront needed a rebel hero. A hero who uses a gun and is a pilot who isn’t Chewbacca or Lando. They need someone who is easily recognizable from the original movies since they have decided that is what they are going with. They had to make a choice to pick who was going to be the next hero and they for some reason didn’t pick this guy.

Our good friend and hero Wedge Antilles. Wedge is a pilot who unless he suddenly became Jedi wouldn’t use a light saber and his popularity is far greater than Nein Numb. He was also in the Battle of Endor and also the Battle of Yarvin as well. I just don’t understand why if you were looking for minor characters that he was overlooked.

So come on DICE you have to try a little harder with these choices because right now to be perfectly honest it just seems like you’re just padding out your DLC with models you already have because Nein Numb and Greedo are aliens you already have modeled. Come on Battlefront, don’t do this to everybody, you’ve got three more shots to make something cool. Pick better Heroes darn it!
